Rewind several months back to a sad, rainy day in July and the best friend put a thought out there. A thought that was going to cost me £700 – let’s go on holiday over the summer.
Previously in the year, we’d decided that we just couldn’t afford it this year. Money was tight, in a year or so we wanted to possibly relocate to a different part of the country or start renting a non-furnish property, so we decided it just wasn’t the right time. However, that obviously didn’t happen.
A mere 33 days before we were due to fly out, we booked a holiday to Ibiza and I can tell you now: it was the best decision I’ve ever had in my life.
Don’t get me wrong, I always ‘deserve’ my holidays and work hard for them, but the academic year of 2016-17 had been particularly gruelling and I really deserved my holiday. So, in August, against my better judgement, I found myself on a plane to Ibiza where the most amazing all inclusive hotel awaited me.
The food was amazing, the cocktails were amazing, the adult only pool was amazing and, to be honest, the whole thing was just amazing in general. I can safely say that I’ve never been emotional to leave a place or holiday before, until Ibiza.
Now, I took over 1000 photos while out on the tiny island, so this is just a small snippet. However, I’m sure you’ll agree with me that it’s bloody beautiful and it was definitely worth the £700 to feel rested, recharged and ready for the next academic year ahead.
