It’s June, the sun is shining and it can only mean one thing – IT’S SUMMER!
I (not so secretly) live for summer. I’m a summer baby and I feel like it must be in my blood to instantly perk up as soon as the summer sun comes out. It doesn’t help that this winter was probably one of the coldest, darkest ones we’ve had for a while, and it made my SAD stronger than ever, but as soon as the sun comes out, it goes right to my head and leaves me with a fussy feeling.
Not only that, but this is the last half term before the summer holidays and, although I’ll still be doing some work, I want to make sure I make make the most of the sun while it’s around, as well as if it gets a little rainy. So, in order to try not to waste all the summer days, I thought I’d make a little list of the things I’m looking forward to doing to keep me motivated!
READING IN THE SUN
Reading is my jam most of the year but it’s 10x more glorious in the summer months. I can’t imagine anything more amazing that a sun lounger, a good book, a bottle of cider, the BBQ burning in the background and the bunnies running around my feet. Let’s just hope that I can get a sun tan while I’m at it!
ROAD TRIPS WITH THE BEST ONE
Every year we try and go camping in the summer and it is one of my favourite events of the year. It gives me time to completely detox (mainly because I don’t get phone signal in the country side), see some lovely sights, take a tonne of beautiful photos and just general turn off for a bit. I’m not sure if it’s going to happen this year as I haven’t heard from the family friends we normally go for but, if all else fails, we’ll just pack up and go ourselves!
FINISHING A FEW OF MY CRAFT PROJECTS
Over the Christmas holidays I started a few new craft projects. I got into the embroidery and started re-editing some old photos now I’ve got better skills. Plus, this time last year I started painting again. It’ll be nice having some time to crack them back out and get them finished, as well as starting a few more!
JUST HAVING GOOD TIMES WITH THE PALS
I had a pretty amazing summer last year. I worked hard, partied harder and just had one of the best summers of my life. Admittedly, there was a holiday to Ibiza in the middle of it which was the most amazing holiday that I’ve ever been on, but the other bits were pretty cool too. There won’t be any holiday away this year after moving house, however there will hopefully be lots of good times with my pals, drinking a few cocktails, dancing the night away and just getting up to general shenanigans.
TAKE SOME ME TIME
I’ve still got quite a lot going on in my life at the moment, even though it is pretty stable, and I am just looking forward to listening to what my body needs, taking a bit of time out and looking after myself again. Even if that is sitting in front of the TV getting consumed in a nonsense boxset for a few days.
What are you looking forward to this summer?
